Youthline engages youth ages 12-16 in positive leadership experiences and recreational activities while connecting them to adult mentors in the parks.

Teen Teamworks is a summer employment and educational program for youth ages 14-18.

Nite Owlz provides extended teen programming at various recreation centers from 8-11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Activities may include open gym, cooking, computer labs and more. Contact a neighborhood recreation center for details.

IDEAWERKS is for youth ages 12-18 to learn multimedia production; record audio and video information on a digital media workstation; study music basics and computer software to create music tracks and videos; and produce and record individual multimedia projects.  

Rec Plus

Rec Plus provides school-age childcare for children ages 5-12 (must be in grades K-6) at neighborhood recreation centers. Rec Plus operates before and after school, on school release days and during the summer, depending on recreation center. Activities include games and sports, arts and crafts, homework help, field trips and nutritious snacks.

Rec Plus Goals

  1. Provide affordable recreation based school-age care in local recreation centers
  2. Enable children to experience positive benefits of a balanced recreation program
  3. Provide a safe environment for children that promotes healthy physical and social development

Teen Tech Workshop

Stitched Together Stories: Artist in Residence

North Minneapolis artist Keegan Xavi will be in residence at Sumner Library for two weeks. Drop in to learn about quilts found in Minneapolis Institute of Art's collection, explore art history, and discover how social issues can inspire your art. Create a story quilt and participate in other art activities. Materials provided. Sponsor: Friends of the Hennepin County Library. Partner: Minneapolis Institute of Art.
